7 plants are now in the ground. On this beautiful, 85 degree, sunny day, the young plants begged for a little break from the direct sun!

3 lines of drip tape in....ready and waiting. I figured there was more time now to get this done, rather than later, when the plants will require more time.
I also have the 75' x 150' patch divided into 4 sections, each with its own hoses for hand watering and sprinkler hookup. 11 hoses in all! No dragging hoses around!

Soil compression? Not with these walking boards. Just be careful you don't fall off!

Stressed plants.....all seven of them! Stressed grower! Self diagnosed and treated for one week. John Taberna of Western Labs Idaho is on it now.
I'm amazed at how the plants could go from picture perfect, to this, in such a short time.....total of 10 days now.

So what does an obsessed giant pumpkin grower do, when she doesn't have a giant pumpkin to obsess over? (Yes, all 7 AG's done in by Roundup overspray!) This is "Swinehart's Surprise Medley" - 10 plants in a 35' x 35' plot. Tom Swinehart is always so nice to send some of his designer gourd and specialty small pumpkin seeds. It's fun to see what develops!

The Cronus variety is an interesting plant, that mounds up before vining out, and grows large jack-o-lantern pumpkins.

The first pollination was this week, on a 150 Rea 06! It has always produced bright orange......just look at those yellow vines. I don't know how big this pumpkin can get. It will be the first time I've limited the plant to one pumpkin. We'll see!
Cecil, you said it was nice that I was making lemonade. But I think I will go for lemon chiffon pie!!

Prizewinners, 150 Rea's and Cronus are to the right of the path. "CORN" is on the far right!!!

Yaaay! I've got a pumpkin! From my 1327.5 Rea 13.
She is yellow.....and her name is "Le-Le-Le Lemonade". Maybe you've heard the McDonald's commercial - not sure if it's national or regional.
Seed was germinated 6/20 - in garden 6/30 - pollinated 8/9.
