Team-Pumpkin is concluding another successful year. We have long searched for an appropriate logo for the Team Members everywhere and now the logo has become official. There was always ‘The Banner’ which seems to appear everywhere the Team-Pumpkin spirit grows. Now our official logo is incorporated into a new banner thanks to our Team-Pumpkin members at the Arizona Giant Pumpkin Growers. It’s simply amazing what can be accomplished when we work together. We will continue to display them both. This year we saw our weigh-offs at Woodstock and Durham Ct grow and improve. Additionally there are 3 more Team-Pumpkin Certified weigh-offs. A progression of Team-Pumpkin Certified, Independent Weigh-offs began with Matt’s Winter Greenhouse Weigh-off and another of his winter genetics projects. Then the Arizona Giant Pumpkin Growers set a new Arizona state record and showed the world how you can grow giant pumpkins in the desert. Most recently we saw Croatia with its first official weigh-off. Our hats off to all those who work so hard to make these possible. The 150 square foot contest has been fun as always. It’s an interesting challenge to see who can grow the biggest pumpkin in a limited space. It removes the issue of ‘oh I don’t have enough space to compete growing giant pumpkins’. Everyone learns quickly that the grass isn’t always greener just because you have a bigger patch. Stay tuned for the results of this years contest at the end of the month.

The Durham Fair seems to move our location every year. This year we are back to where Team-Pumpkin started oh so many years ago. WE filled this building everyday with visitors. Its a great venue to show what we do and interact with people and potential new growers.

Everyone comes to see the giant pumpkins, that's expected. The giant watermelons prompt the same questions..can you eat them but it was the giant 'string beans' that drew the most questions this year. The fair is a great place for us to increase interest in giant pumpkins and here Matt shows a measuring tape to a visitor and explains how and why we measure them.
