The Good, the BAD, and the Ugly of squash vine borers. Pictured is the 1623 Wallace or what is left after the SVB invited itself to feast on this plant. The main is no more, but the secondaries produced a female for pollination. Under the plexiglass is the stump (base) and as shown, the second secondary has been severed to clean out the damaged vine and treat the infected area. Malathion was applied to control SVB and on Thursday, another fungicide treatment will be applied. Ah, happy growing conditions in the community garden plots infested with SVB and so many others.
