The shade structure on this pumpkin helps prevent the sheet from sticking to the pumpkin since it is starting to sap quite a bit. I do not think this is a bad thing, and hope that it means this pumpkin will go heavy. It has also maintained the nice symmetrical shape even as it approaches 50 days old.
