Thats what I'm doing. I'm just covering them at night. Sun + plastic can damage the plants just as much as it can help them.

It´s some kind of Reemay fabric (it still keeps them warm and doesn´t heat up too much on a sunny day)...because of what you said, Sun + plastic can damage the plants just as much as it can help them. It allows for some air circulation, and some of the UV is also passing through, and the raindrops as well. However, it´s a bit of a shade, and sometimes I want to let the plants get a kick of full sunlight.

Thanks for correcting me. I've really only used plastic. I can see where a fabric would be superior.

No worries, I wouldn´t call it correcting, I was just trying to address your concerns (which are definitely justified, because it is common practice to use plastic cover, and in my post it wasn´t pointed out that I use a fabric instead). You are raising good points very often, and that´s definitely helpful and/or inspiring for other growers...and I just added my ten cents, trying to contribute to the helpful content.
