            | dave(7) | mcminnville oregon | Ive got some great seed needing planted? Unfortunately only 2 possible three fit into the 05"patch vision.. what would be the best crosses. Would these old school seeds make a desirable cross with the 1420. * 1062 RIVARD = 914WENTZELL X Self * 914 WENTZELL = 1006 GREER 96' X MULTIPLE * 1006 GREER = 697 CILIBERTO 94'X 680 DILL 94' * 697 CILIBERTO = 722 HOLLAND 92'X 502 CILIBERTO 91' * 747 WYCKOFF 801.5 STELTS 97'X 636.5 WYCKOFF97' * 646 RIVARD 04'SQ = 1062 RIVARD X 1062 RIVARD SQ SO MY GOALS ARE: Growing a 1000lber , or beating my PB. , representing as many current pgvg members with 10 plants! 50/50 Pumpkin/squash Achieving sought after crosses, so someday maybe youll consider growing one of them? beating | 1/9/2005 5:44:02 AM |
            | MNPG(Al) | Mn | I wish i could help you, but i just don't know. Wish i had a 1006 Greer. It throughs light, but I like the fact that the 1006 went way heavy. | 1/9/2005 10:12:05 PM |
            | pumpkinpal2 | Syracuse, NY | i would still plant the 697 Ciliberto and the 1006 Greer and self and cross the heck out of them, as their time is running out concerning their viability.
old meets new is always a good thing, could be some hybrid vigor in the seeds from those crosses:

 1006 X 1420
 1420 X 1006
 697 X 1420
 1420 X 697
 and just some common-sense crosses:
 697 X SELF
 1006 X SELF
 697 X 1006
 1006 X 697
etc,..,,, MAN, i didn't see ANY 697 or 1006 in the family tree of the 1420, even as far back as '95....!!!

if you mix together two things that have never been mixed together before......ka-boom!!!! just my suggestion.
 not that i know anything.
how about some pointers from the GENETEXPERTS??? lol...eric

            | pumpkinpal2 | Syracuse, NY | by the weigh, i myself thought the 1006 was extremely heavy to the charts also, but from what i've seen it was only like 5.-something % over the esimate.
it COULD have been a big deal at that time, perhaps not so today. the 697 offspring seemed to be the same weigh,
a little over, a little under--there was one fruit, like 769 Mettler '98 that was like 11 percent heavy, but the rest were seeming to be plus or minus only a few.....
either weigh, i would still 697 and 1006 and 1420 it. eric

            | Andy W | Western NY | couldn't tell if you have all of those seeds, or were listing parentages, but if you have the 697, better try it this year. i tried one 2 years ago that wouldn't even sprout then. seed is getting very old. | 1/10/2005 3:09:19 PM |
            | dave(7) | mcminnville oregon | Thannnk you thank you thannk you.. So what would be best to cross with the 646 Rivard SQ 04' = 1062 Rivard x 1062 Rivard... 1062 traces back to these seeds ?. | 1/12/2005 10:09:55 PM |
