I dont quite understand why you guys start tomatos so early? I thought that a fair ammount of growers on this forum were still under snow?

            | yardman | Mnt.pleasant ,tennessee | Well ashton slow grow from seed,it helps having a bigger plant to prevent damage cut worm frost ect...me myself i like to have atleast a foot of plant to bury for more roots.got one plant i started oct 15 3' & put in ground& start growing all over again. | 4/2/2014 8:45:58 AM |

            | PA_J | Allentown, PA | Yardman along with most others including myself grow our plants early in order to have a long main stem in order to transplant in ground horizontally. My goal each season is to have my plants approx a foot to a foot and a half tall.
I bury all but approx 2 inches below the ground horizontally. This promotes a large root system to occur along the buried stem resulting in a healthier more vigorous plant capable of strong uptake of nutrients.
